Fakalofa lahi atu
Thanks to everyone that supported the inaugural Pasifika Week 2013. An unbelievable 5 days of continuous culture, care and community was delivered and experienced by staff, patients and community alike. The week served as a gentle reminder of the capability, leadership and power in our staff and communities.
Our challenge is how can we harness this to catalyse positive health outcomes. I believe there is huge opportunity and potential in empowering our staff and community to participate and foster a culture of Pacific leadership that will enable CM Health to bind the energy, diversity of thinking, spirit and wisdom that sits within the Pacific staff and communities that exist in our organisation.
To the staff on the wards that infused the walls with their cultural treasures your pride of person, love for your culture was felt by all. Ko Awatea came alive at noon each day, as the week progressed buzz travelled across the organisation and by Friday Ko Awatea was teaming with staff representative of all occupations, as seen in the picture.
To the speakers, providers and community groups that participated we are truly grateful, without them our work cannot be done. I would love to hear your views, your feedback and discuss how we can support you in you to better engaging with your Pacific patients, families and communities. I look forward to you sharing your thoughts with all of us.
See you all next year at Pasifika Week 2014!
