CMDHB CEO Geraint Martin just couldn’t resist . . . he just had to try and get a sneak preview!
Most of Ko Awatea is finished, and will be visible on the staff previews starting this week. There are some final areas that will be finished just in time (phew!) for the big opening event on 21 June. Sorry Geraint . . . not even you can get a ‘first look’ into these final areas to be finished.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone who can join us at the opening – you will see Ko Awatea fully finished and you will be able to share in the opening events: register here.
Monday was the day for the staff previews for the majority of the building that is completed, and it’s been a great success.
Looking ahead to next week – There’s the Dawn Ceremony from 6.40am to 8am. Theses ceremonies are always rather special but for Ko Awatea it is extra special, given the meaning of our name (First Light) and the dawning of new things on our horizon. I know it might be a bit of a challenge to those who aren’t naturally early risers, but there’ll be coffee and muffins to follow.
From 10am to noon will be the official opening and there’s an open invitation to all that I hope you’ll take up. You’ll have the chance to see some wonderful entertainment and hear local, national and international speakers.
On 22 and 23 June, the work starts with the Healthcare Colloquium. The theme for the Colloquium is innovation and action. There will be interesting speakers and thought-provoking topics that’ll make you look for more, with something for everyone.
Remember – if you can’t get to the conference or the opening, then you will be able to see the speakers and the conference content electronically.
