DOWNLOAD THE POSTEROne of TTSH RC’s quality indicators is patient falls rate. Therapy-related falls at the centre had been increasing at an alarming rate since 2009. By 2012, the absolute number of falls had increased by 200%. The negative consequences of falls include risk of injuries, fear of falling and reduced confidence in mobility, which can result in a setback of their rehabilitation progress. Traditional approach of formulating falls prevention policies and protocols and implementing them top-down was ineffective. Additionally, they were often inadequate in their robustness to cover the myriad of situations and experiences happening during therapy.
