Handle the Jandal (HtJ) is a community organising youth-led campaign supported by Ko Awatea and aimed at building youth resilience to improve mental health and wellbeing.
Now in it’s second year with a youth leadership team of 12, HtJ is teaming up with LotuMoui to launch #rise2conquer – a mega workshop event which will host 1000 youth providing interactive workshops and stalls to equip youth with skills to build resilience in health and wellbeing, education, relationships, employment and creative arts.
The event will conclude with a concert in the evening giving youth an opportunity to show their stuff and take the stage along with special guest appearances from world champ hip hop sensation’s The Royal Family dancing out of Parris Goebel’s Palace Dance Studios and more!
This event serves as the catalyst for the next phase of Community Organising work supported by Ko Awatea with the goal of expanding Handle the Jandal to become an overarching campaign that will recruit and develop more youth leaders to launch specific and targeted sub-campaigns on specific issues that matter to youth and their mental health and well-being.
