Lecture Theatre, Ko Awatea12.45 – 1.45pm, Tuesday 18 September 2012
On Tuesday, Don Berwick will be speaking as part of a forum called ‘Building a Community of Impact’, being held at Ko Awatea. To give Counties Manukau staff an opportunity to hear Don speak on such an important topic, we are opening up his session to staff who would like to come along and listen.
So bring your lunch and come along to hear one of the world’s leading experts on healthcare improvement talk about global examples of cross-sector collaboration to address common health and social issues, opportunities for a relatively small and close-knit country like New Zealand, and lessons learned in the US.
Donald M. Berwick, MD, MPP, FRCP, is the former President and CEO of IHI, an organisation that he co-founded and led for over 20 years. In July 2010, President Obama appointed Dr. Berwick to the position of Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, a position he held until December 2011. A paediatrician by background, Dr. Berwick is recognised as a leading authority on health care quality and improvement, and has received numerous awards for his contributions. Dr. Berwick is the author or co-author of over 150 scientific articles and four books.
