In April 2013 we reported the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Victorian Department of Health and Ko Awatea. Among the 50 guests were Pradeep Philip, Director General, Department of Health Victoria Geraint Martin, CEO Counties Manukau Health and Professor Jonathon Gray, Director Ko Awatea.
With better patient care being the centre of this new alliance, both partners are looking forward to capitalising on each other’s unique bases of research, knowledge and expertise.
“We have a great deal to learn from one another and I believe this will be the start of a much larger network across Asia Pacific,” says Geraint Martin. “It’s got a huge amount of potential.”
Victoria is the first Australian jurisdiction to officially link with Ko Awatea in a move that should see mutual benefits through the exchange of information, training and best practice.
The newly-formed Commission for Hospital Improvement (CHI) in Victoria, Australia instigated the partnership after recognising the value coming out of an informal but rapidly growing relationship with Ko Awatea.
The video footage below is taken from the event, which includes interviews with Geraint Martin, CEO CM Health and Dr Pradeep Philip, Health Secretary Victorian Department of Health.
