Ko Awatea Director Prof Gray on APAC Forum 2015
One day away from APAC Forum 2015, Ko Awatea’s director and APAC keynote speaker Jonathon Gray is excited about the upcoming three days’ worth of connecting ‘difference makers’.
“We connect people, knowledge and give concrete ways people can improve healthcare for their communities,” Professor Gray says of one of the largest healthcare improvement conference in the world.
He hopes delegates to the SKYCITY Convention centre event take home the key message from his address “that the transformation we need will come from our belief in the power of people, knowledge and the right IT.”
“Isolated, we cannot hope to meet and address the challenges ahead – together we can,” he says, noting that it is though collaboration, not competition that the next improvements will be made.
Affecting positive change within health requires its workforce to become expert at two jobs – the one they learned at medical or nursing school, and the one that involves improving this job.
“Simply having technical expertise is no longer enough,” Professor Gray says.
Topping his wishlist for the best health development to come about in the next years is the inception of ‘Team Health New Zealand’, in which is fostered “a great team, not a team of greats”.
The APAC Forum will run 23-25 September 2015 at Auckland’s SKYCITY Convention Centre. It is organised by Ko Awatea, a centre of health innovation and improvement within Counties Manukau Health.
