Ko Awatea fellow Jasmine Jenke has celebrated the publication of Real, Raw and Relatable with an evening dedicated to the subjects of the book.
Some 180 attended the official launch at Kolmar in Papatoetoe, 125 of those were people featured in the publication. Several staff members from Ko Awatea were also at the event as was CM Health chief executive Geraint Martin. Youth worker and book subject Sully Paea began the evening with a prayer and local youth Sheldon Rua performed a spoken word piece on South Auckland.
Jasmine says the evening was about honouring the book subjects – the formerly unsung heroes of South Auckland – and the amazing work they do in the community.
She encouraged those present to continue to work to encourage pride within South Auckland
