Mindfulness Based Resilience at Work

1 January 2015Leave a commentProgrammesBy Ko Awatea

Brief Overview

Reduce burnout and stress and increase your focus and enjoyment at work

Mindfulness is defi ned by pioneer Jon Kabat-Zinn as “paying focused attention, on purpose, without judgment, to the experience of the present moment”.  Mindfulness Based Resilience at Work (MBRW) has been adapted from Kabat-Zinn’s internationally successful and well researched Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course.  MBRW helps start to develop techniques for focusing attention through meditation tools and responding “mindfully” to situations rather than reacting automatically.  Mindfulness is associated with emotional intelligence and evidence for its benefi ts in leadership is growing.

Learning Outcomes

  • Increased resilience and improved ability to handle stress – learn how to manage stressful situations better and become more resilient
  • Develop techniques to focus attention and be present
  • Skills to reduce burn out
  • Learn how to listen and engage more effectively and empathetically with others

Who Should Attend

You should come to the Mindfulness Based Resilience at Work course if you want to focus your attention, invest in your wellbeing at work, reduce your stress levels, and increase your resilience.

Recent stats:

  • 95% of respondents felt it had made positive change to their reactivity at work
  • 97% of respondents felt there had been some or great positive change in their ability to handle stressful situations

“I’m back to singing and humming as I go about my work”

“Greater ability to stay focused and calm which helps one to think through situations and de-escalate.”

“Able to handle things differently, confident, better at making decisions, cope with stress better”

Why choose MBR@W?

  • MBR@W is an adaptation of MBSR – the gold standard mindfulness course on which most outcome research is based
  • MBR@W is one of the few courses which has been scientifi cally evaluated – staff show signifi cant reductions in stress, burnout and increases in resilience in 4 weeks
  • MBR@W is more than a taster session. It is a real launch pad for staff to learn about and integrate mindfulness. 96% staff who did MBR@W report still benefi tting and 76% still practicing – up to two years later.
  • MBR@W was a finalist in the HRNZ awards 2016
