Dr Maher played a video which focuses on communication, in which scenarios of both positive and negative patient staff interaction were depicted.
The final presentation came from Ko Awatea improvement advisor for strategic projects, Olivia Anstis.
Ms Anstis, who is also a health psychologist, was joined by her former colleague, Dr Jodie Main of Atlantis Healthcare to present Mapping Patient Journeys: Understanding and improving patient experience through research and co-design Patient journey maps collate the experience and interactions of patients with the healthcare system and represent them in a visual way, Ms Anstis and Dr Main explained. They identify key points in the patient journey where interactions are not optimal or there are gaps in what the patient needs. These maps help patients and healthcare professionals towards co-designing better services.
