Originally from Northern Ireland, Katie graduated in Aberdeen, Scotland in 2001 as a physiotherapist and started her career in the UK. She moved to New Zealand in 2002 and commenced employment with Waikato District Health Board as a physiotherapist at Waikato Hospital. Katie was involved in establishing the physiotherapy service in the Neurosurgical unit in 2006. She established the allied health service for the Organised Stroke Service in 2008.
Katie accepted a secondment from her clinical role to join the Health Waikato Programme Management Office in 2010. In her role as Project Manager she developed and implemented a re-structuring of allied health services across Waikato District Health Board. This project was followed by a $40 million service and campus redevelopment for Specialist Health Services for Older People from 2010-2012.
Katie joined the Strategic Programme Management Office at Counties Manukau Health in 2012 as a Programme Manager for two programmes within the Achieving a Balance portfolio; Enabling High Performing People and Patient and Whānau Centred Care. She completed her Masters in Health Science with the University of Auckland in 2013 and joined Ko Awatea in March 2014 as the Contracts and Consulting Engagement Manager.
