The APAC Forum has quickly become a world-leading health innovation conference, and we want to make sure we are as green as we can be as well.
Health systems such as the UK’s NHS account for about 3-8 per cent of total GHG emissions, according to CM Health’s sustainability officer Debbie Wilson (there is no running record of the New Zealand equivalent).
Environmental sustainability initiatives within the health sector can save money, as well as the Earth, so it’s important we do what we can.
As some 1700 APAC Forum delegates descend on Sydney this September, there are steps we can all take to reduce our environmental impact. Here are some suggestions from Ms Wilson:
- Use online resources where you can in order to save on paper.
- Delegates could consider retaining one cup and water bottle and reusing these.
- As always, delegates are encouraged to recycle mindfully and walk wherever possible.
A sustainable event is designed and run in a way that minimises negative environmental and social impacts and leaves a positive legacy for the host community.
Let’s keep this in mind in Sydney!
